FRIDAY, AUG. 9, 2013 – Jeanne Trevor is considered St. Louis’ First Lady of Jazz. A Harlem transplant, Jeanne made her way to St. Louis 40 years ago and has called it home ever since. Her career began at the famed Gaslight Square.

Jeanne has appeared with nearly every professional theater group in St. Louis, the Municipal Opera and the St. Louis Symphony. She appeared at the International Festival ofJazz in San Luis, Senegal in Africa in 1998. Jeanne received the Grand Center Visionary Award in 2008, the St. Louis Arts Award in

2009 and a Grammy from the National Academy of TV Arts and Sciences for outstanding achievement in a commercial announcement spot. She is listed in KWMU Jazz Unlimited St. Louis Jazz Hall of Fame, and just last year was inducted onto the City of Ferguson’s Walk of Fame. Jeanne was an inductee into the Missouri Historical Society with the exhibition of “Ragtime to Rock and Roll: St. Louis African American Music” and featured in the book, City of Gabriels: The History of Jazz in St. Louis.

Jeanne enjoys educating children about and exposing them not only to jazz, but to all genres of great music when she volunteers at Young Audiences of St. Louis. Jeanne is still actively touring and is currently working on her second CD.
